With a stunning natural location, set atop the Halden Hills in Devon, Exeter Racecourse certainly has a visual appeal for visitors and as one of the best National Hunt courses in the country it also offers great racing, a superb atmosphere and first class hospitality for visitors to Exeter racing events. Exeter hosts 16 jump fixtures throughout the season with the Haldon Gold Cup day and the New Years day races proving particularly popular.

Free Horse Racing Tips, Click Here! The course at Exeter is right handed and with an uphill finishing straight is regarded as a real challenge, especially on soft ground. A long circuit, only one of the fences is jumped twice in races over 2 miles and 1 furlong, such as the Haldon Cup. Although situated in a wonderful rural locale, the racecourse is just 5 miles from Exeter and easily reached by road or by free bus shuttle from Exeter St. Davids Station.

Exeter racing has an excellent reputation as a proving ground for the best novice chase prospects due partly to the course being close to some of the most successful National Hunt stables. One of the greatest chasers in history, Desert Orchid started with a win at Exeter in 1985.

The star of the Cheltenham Gold Cup, Best Mate also won at Exeter three times. The racecourse attracts a knowledgeable race crowd as a result yet never loses its friendly atmosphere and attraction for the casual racegoer.

Visitors can enjoy some exciting Exeter racing from a choice of course environments. The Haldon Premier Enclosure has tiered seating within the Iddlesleigh Gallery section, offering the best panoramic views over the course. Light lunches are available from the Denman Room and next door is Best Mate Bar which serves abundant refreshment options. The Haldon Premier Enclosure has just benefitted from a new development which extends the Haldon Stand and provides further hospitality options.

While badge holders for the Haldon Premier Enclosure can access all public areas of the course an alternative option for racegoers is for the Grandstand and Paddock Enclosure. With good race viewing and fully licensed Romany King and Martin Pipe Bars a good day out at the races is assured. Whichever enclosure you choose for raceday your first purchase will be a racecard from the Racecard and Souvenirs Kiosk.

This will detail all the races, runners and form guide for the day as well as provide other useful information to allow the visitor to make the most of the facilities and their time spent on the course.

Raceday packages at Exeter racing provide the perfect way to get all the right racing and hospitality services and offer a great introduction to racing for those new to racing.
